How to Backup a Company in TallyPrime: Step-by-Step Guide

Backing up your company data in TallyPrime is an essential practice to ensure the safety of your financial records. Regular backups protect your data from unexpected issues like system crashes, corruption, or accidental deletions.

By following this guide, you can ensure that your data is secure and recoverable in case of any unforeseen issues. Make backup creation a regular part of your accounting routine to avoid unnecessary stress and data loss.

 

Open TallyPrime

Launch the TallyPrime application on your computer, Ensure you are on the Gateway of Tally screen. Press Alt + Y or click on Data

 

Access the Company Backup Option

Press Alt + Y on your keyboard, Alternatively, click on Data from the top menu and select the Backup option.

 

Specify the Backup Location

Destination: Specify the location where you want to save the backup file. You can Browse and select a folder on your computer or Use an external drive or network location for added safety. In the Backup Companies screen, you will see the following fields:

Select the Company to Backup

Source: This is the location where your current company data is stored. By default, TallyPrime will automatically detect it.

  • A list of all companies in the source location will appear.
  • Use the spacebar to select the company or companies you want to back up.
  • You can select one or multiple companies as needed.

In the Backup Companies screen, you will see the following fields:

Step 5: Start the Backup Process

Once you’ve selected the destination and the companies to back up, press Enter to start the backup process, TallyPrime will display a confirmation message once the backup is complete. Successfully Backup Taken

 

Step 6: Verify the Backup

Navigate to the destination folder you specified
